Connie Flynn

Textile workshops, and sketchbook design development

Connie offers felt making workshops for beginners and for those with some experience who want to develop their skills further - eg making felt jewellery, bags, scarves, sculptural forms. The workshops will explore felt making by using colourful wool fibres to create interesting pieces of felt.  You will explore various materials and processes leading to endless possibilities. The felt fabric made could be complete or be used as a base fabric for embroidery.
Connie is an established textile artist, and as a trained and very experienced teacher she will assist you in exploring materials and learning new techniques.

This workshop is for anyone who is interested in recording and developing creative design ideas in a sketchbook, and exploring colour and textures using mixed media. You will be asked to bring your own inspirational starting point; this could be a photograph of a landscape, seascape, or any other subject of your choice. Connie will be showing examples and talking through her approach to working in her sketchbooks.
She will then suggest tasks and guide you through the process of experimenting and developing your own inspirational ideas, using a variety of materials – fibres, yarns, coloured paper and mark making resources.
You will be asked to bring your own sketchbook and some materials linked to your own subject. Connie will bring other resources to be used. Please note this is not a traditional drawing sketchbook workshop.
