Artist and Designer

In 2011 I graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Textiles, and have been working from my studio at Parndon Mill ever since. Alongside this I am Weave Technician at Central Saint Martins where I teach weaving.

I create handwoven one-off textile pieces for interior spaces; either as wall-hangings or for windows, and complex multi-directional yarn windings.

I explore ways of combining high contrasts together within a single piece of cloth. Using mostly linen and silk, I experiment with weaving techniques - both traditional and modern, that can allow these contrasts to work together in either subtle or more surprising ways; using gradating colours and textures, varying weight, opacity, and pattern.

The yarn windings are both a way for me to express ideas for woven cloth, and to create intricate layered patterns that would not be possible to weave, as textile art pieces. I weave and wrap to commission from my studio as well as selling through exhibitions both locally and nationally.

Jacquard Weaver

In 2016 I invested in my new TC1 Sampling Jacquard. I can now create intricate silk jacquard fabrics both to commission and as artworks. I specialise in photographic images both of people and animals creating unique framed silk portraits.

I provide a jacquard sampling service for other artists and designers. I can produce sample size pieces only (no short-runs) at 14" wide, 60 epi with a 2/60's silk warp (other warps on request). Design consultation also available.

After undergoing further training with Digital Weaving Norway in 2018 I now provide technical support and servicing for other TC1 and TC2 Jacquard users, as well as training in both design and weaving.
