Karen Murphy Glass

Karen is a partner in Copernicus, the glass studio here at Parndon Mill. With her colleague Ewa Wawrzyniak, courses are offered in slumped and fused glass. Suitable for all levels from complete beginners to more advanced students.

Weekday workshops for industry.
Weekday, evening and weekend courses for all.

" I have chosen to work in glass to express ideas of space, light and movement. The inherent qualities of the glass imbue the work with a spiritual and ethereal quality.

My current body of work has been inspired by the tumbling waterfall and river at Lydford Gorge in Devon.

The pieces are fused and formed in the kiln and are enhanced by the additions of dichroic glass."

My work is always available in The Gallery at Parndon Mill and I am pleased to discuss commissions for specific needs or projects.
Recent commissions have included commemorative pieces for the chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire, the Spanish Ambassador and The British High Commissioner in Malaysia.

Latest project: CH 4 Property Ladder

My latest project involved the re-development of a neglected cottage in Hertford with my son, and I was very fortunate to have been featured on Channel 4’s Property Ladder show, presented by Sarah Beeny, on the 11th April 2007.
As my degree at the University of Hertfordshire is coming to an end I decided to use this opportunity as a platform to showcase some of my glasswork.

I have posted a selection of images from the development and of the glasswork featured in the programme at photobucket

Please take a look as all glassworks are available to commission!
