MINDFULNESS of DRAWING
Three Day Workshop - Retreat with Ivan Daggett.

This three day retreat is suitable for beginners and experienced alike. Its emphasis is on cultivating an awareness of the focus and stillness in yourself when practising drawing. When you engage in the physical process of creativity, your breath often slows down to a restful rhythm, allowing your mind to quieten and rest. Developing an attentiveness to what you are experiencing is one of the cornerstones to mindfulness, which, when practised over a period of time, can help you stay more anchored in yourself during the turbulence of everyday life.

The drawing practices you will be able to explore are, observational - which is the objective process of drawing what you see, free form - which is purely putting marks on paper and allowing them to develop into an image, and active imagination - which is a practice of inviting images from your imagination onto the paper! Following an introduction to the drawing practises, participants are encouraged and supported in developing one or more of the approaches based on their preference.

""When drawing, draw." Just draw. Draw with the whole body and allow yourself to rest in the direct physical sensations of drawing. When we do this, we have a sense of being entirely in the present moment, completely immersed in our direct experience." (www.themindfulword.org)

Thursday 12th, Friday 13th, Saturday, 14th April - 9.30 - 4.30
Cost: £135 for three day course - 5 places available (£30.00 deposit)
