ANNE ALLANSON

Since finishing her fine art degree at the University of Hertfordshire in 1986, she has divided her time between teaching and painting. She has taught at various colleges and at the University of Hertfordshire.

Her work is in private collections in England, Denmark, Germany and Bermuda.
STATEMENT
Anne's main concerns in painting are the special effects of our environment, mainly landscape. Whatever the starting point or reference, the process is one of building; being alert to suggestions offered by chance or accident, deciding what to keep and what to destroy.
"I make sculptures and assemblages which in turn influence the painting. My preferred medium is paint.
I find it exciting to explore colour for its creative possibilities and spacial effects. It is interesting to empty space of inessentials and then articulate it through abstracted colour and space. The various areas stand for preferences, experiences, memories and feelings as well as the external references.
The final decisions may be seen as a formal arrangement of line and colour, visual contrasts and spacial relationships, but also I hope to convey a certain structural vitality and maybe even touch a nerve or two."

"Newhall places design and creativity at the top of its priorities for creating a thriving new community. The aesthetic is of primary importance, whether it be the use of national award winning architects or of locally relevant colour and materials. We think the creative process comes first. Whilst art will eventually become an integral physical part of Newhall, as it already is throughout the rest of Harlow, it is also important to us that Newhall becomes associated with its local art community and artists. We want the exceptionally high standards of contemporary architecture at Newhall to become the backdrop for equally exceptional art.
We are delighted to support exhibitions organised by The Gallery at Parndon Mill which show local artists who create some wonderful contemporary work".
