Etchings, aquatints and carborundum prints inspired by industrial London by

The Gallery at Parndon Mill is proud to present ETCHED IN THE MIND an exhibition of the work of JANE STOBART who is recognised as a leading printmaker.
Her prints are in the collections of the Fitzwilliam and Ashmolean Museums, the Museum of London and The Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC.
She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and the author of two books, `Printmaking for Beginners` and `Drawing Matters` published by A&C Black, London.

Jane describes herself as an artist-printmaker concerned with the celebration of manual work. "I have been inspired by many years of drawing in a wide variety of industrial locations including a gin distillery, sewage pumping stations and building sites and I spent an extensive period at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry".

The exhibition includes some of her latest work, hitherto unseen. In these prints she has cross-fertilised glazier figures with images drawn at the National Gallery in London, to offer the workmen a classical air. The glass is gone, and the figures face the open sky, or touch it, or reach for it.
