An exhibition of landscape photography.

DAVID NEWTON, MARTIN PARRATT,
MARCUS SILVERSIDES,
IRENE ROBSON, GRAHAM SMITH

This exhibition shows how photographers can approach their subject in many different ways. Sitting by a lakeside waiting for the sun to rise in just the right atmospheric conditions eventually gives the opportunity for that perfect picture, full of the magic of the moment. Selecting the unusual in natural landscape makes us look again and see something unnoticed before. This can also happen by choosing a very ordinary subject and taking a photograph which makes it special.

The opportunity to work digitally on photographs opens up a whole new range of possibilities. The colour, the dimensions, even the weather can be manipulated. Whole new vistas can be created. Some of the landscapes exhibited in Depth of Field are not at all what they seem!

STEPHAN MAGUIRE

Since 1979, Stephan Maguire has been working continuously from his studio
at, Parndon Mill Harlow, producing one-off and series of wheel thrown
Porcelain and Stoneware, fired in an oxidising electric kiln to 1235-1310 degrees centigrade.

During this period he has mainly explored the use of marbling (colour and textural), low relief, carving, engraving, inlaying and chattering. Since 1987, series of pinched earthenware vessels have been produced, paying particular attention to rhythm, natural surface texture and organic pattern.

He has exhibited locally, nationally and abroad and his work is in private collections in Japan, America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Egypt, Hong Kong, Canada and Australia..
